Release notes
What shipped, week by week.
GrowApps ships every week. This is the same changelog shown inside the build workspace: what is new, what got better, and what got fixed, in the product's own words.
4 published releases, newest first.
Real games, and editing your app by typing on it (v0.0.58)
August 22 - September 10, 2026
New
- The agent can create 3D models from a description and put them in your app, in a viewer your users can spin with a finger.
- Ask for a 3D game and you get one that plays like a game: characters that really run, lit scenes with shadows, and a smooth frame rate.
- 2D games are built on a real game engine, and every game gets its own music loop.
- Retype any text in your app, in place. Each change becomes a version you can restore, and it works in the Android app too.
- Click-to-select is instant, takes several parts of your app at once, and sends the agent a picture of each one.
- Threads: try a change in its own copy of your app, and Accept it into the main one when it is right. A conflicting Accept now resolves itself.
- While your app builds, a chat bubble asks a few questions about what you need, and the agent uses your answers.
- Media Studio takes your own files, like a logo a client sent you, and the agent shows you what it plans to make before it makes it.
- Refer a friend: share your link from your account page or the gift button on the build screen. When they publish their first app, you both get 5 credits.
Improvements
- Apps are built phone first, and the agent checks your app at phone size before it says it is done.
- Your first build tells you which parts are example data and what it assumed, and asks for your real content.
- The agent works faster: tapping through your app to check it went from about 7 seconds per tap to under half a second.
- Long builds no longer stop halfway. The agent summarises its own work as it goes, so a big app can keep building until it is done.
- When the main model is busy, one tap switches you to a backup model instead of waiting.
- The preview has a tablet view next to phone and computer.
- You can describe your idea by voice on the home page before you even sign in.
Fixes
- A preview that freezes now notices and restarts itself, and a hot reload keeps you on the page you were on.
- Stopping a turn stops that turn, not the whole plan: the task list carries forward.
Half the cost per build, credits for inviting a friend, and GrowApps on your phone (v0.0.57)
August 15 - 22, 2026
New
- A turn is now a list of steps you can watch tick over: the agent's own task list arrives on screen as it plans it, each step marked as it is done, and nothing shown at all when there is no real plan behind it.
- The floating chat carries the current action and a clock, so you can see the agent is working and for how long without leaving the preview.
- Add a collaborator with an invite link that expires and can be revoked, instead of handing out your project id. Links are auditable, so you can see which one was used.
- A collaborators panel: see everyone who has access to a project, remove them, and take an app back out of open source when you want to.
- The build screen on a phone: a full-screen preview of your app, the chat as a panel you pull up when you need it, and shake to bring it back.
- Your apps screen is now a phone home screen of your projects, with a side menu, a sort filter and your account pinned where you expect it.
- Design mode lives inside the build screen: switch the workspace to the Media Studio without leaving your project, keep the same composer and menus, and browse the gallery in the side pane while the chat stays where it is.
- New accounts start with 5 free credits, so a first app can be built before deciding anything.
- Invite a friend and you both earn credits when they publish their first app. Your invite link and your referrals live on the account page.
- Auto top-up now takes a daily and a weekly spending budget, so it can keep a long build alive without ever going further than you intended.
- Buy credits from the build screen without leaving your work.
- Export a project's chat history as a text file from the project tab.
- Preview your app as a phone or as a desktop window, with a toggle above the frame.
- Attach an image or a file to a message from the composer's attach menu, and retry a send that failed from the card it leaves behind.
Improvements
- One agent now plans and builds your request from end to end, instead of handing it to a crew. Same work, about 55% less of your credits, and no turns spent re-explaining your app to a second agent.
- The agent builds what you asked for, as well as it can, and then asks what is next, instead of padding your app with features you never requested and charging you for them.
- Ask a question on a new project and you get an answer. A question is no longer treated as a build order.
- The agent can search your whole project by filename or by content, so it finds the right file directly instead of paying to read its way there.
- Asking the agent to look at your app no longer refuses when nothing was redeployed: it analyses what is live and tells you what it sees.
- When a check on your app fails, you get the real reason instead of a generic "is the builder up?".
- When the AI provider is overloaded, the chat says so in plain words and tells you to send again in a minute, instead of showing a raw error.
- The live activity line says what is actually happening in your app's words, not the internal name of the stage the agent is in.
- Shell commands in the chat show the command and what it printed, as two code blocks. File searches render as proper cards instead of raw arguments.
- Every message in the chat is stamped with how long ago it was sent, and the agent's thinking reveals at reading speed instead of stuttering.
- The code viewer follows the app's own theme, in light and dark.
- Your preview appears when it is genuinely ready. The pane waits for the app itself to report that it has booted, so you stop looking at a blank frame that claims to be live.
- A preview whose dev server has died is now really relaunched. The watchdog used to report "ready" without checking, which is how a preview could sit on Loading forever.
- Redeploying a large app is given the time a real compile takes, so a healthy build is no longer failed as "preview never started serving".
- Hot reload reaches every preview tab you have open, and reloads once per change instead of twice.
- The apps list is ordered by when you last worked on each one, and every card says "Edited 20 minutes ago" so you know what the time means.
- The Media Studio streams its work while it happens, the same way the build screen does, instead of showing you the result only at the end.
- Standard is now $15 for your first month and $20 after, replacing the $1 introductory week.
- The low-credit warning appears at one credit instead of five, so it is not the first thing a new account sees.
- Your account is one tap away from every signed-in screen, from the avatar in the top right, and the account page has been rebuilt.
- The composer keeps the keyboard when your text wraps to a second line, and offers your project's next idea as its placeholder after every turn.
- Onboarding names the control it is pointing at, and then gets out of the way.
Media Studio, a build screen you can watch, and notifications that find you (v0.0.38)
August 4 - 14, 2026
New
- Media Studio (beta), a per-project design studio at /media, reachable from the sidebar and the menu. Ask for an image, a logo, a voice-over, music or a video; every generation is staged so you review it before it becomes part of your app.
- The Media Studio gallery now shows your app's own assets, not just what the studio made. Tap any image to hand it to the designer as the thing to edit.
- Media Studio sessions: split a project's media work into named threads, so the launch jingle isn't planned with twelve turns of mascot context. Switch, rename and delete threads from the bar above the chat; saved assets stay in the shared gallery.
- The Media Studio chat shows the designer's thinking and its tools as it works, the same way the build screen does, and generated speech and music play right in the chat.
- Images, audio and video the agent generates now play inline in the build chat instead of arriving as a filename.
- A new agent stage in the build chat: while the agent works you get one card at a time showing the current step, and you can swipe back through everything it has already done. Finished turns stay as browsable cards.
- Tool steps now show what actually happened: files the agent read render as code, screenshots render as the real image, and web searches render as tappable site cards.
- Every edit the agent makes now appears as a proper diff card, added and removed lines, colour-coded, expandable in place.
- Read aloud: play any agent reply as speech, in your language, with a mini player you can stop and seek. Copy buttons on every message came along with it.
- Search your project's files: in-file and project-wide search in the files viewer, with regex, match case, and jump-to-next-match. The viewer works on a phone now too.
- Browser notifications: opt in from the notification bell and get a real OS notification when the agent needs an answer, a turn finishes, your app is published, or an Android build fails, with the tab closed or the browser in the background. Everyone working on a project gets them, not only its creator.
- Your apps now carry real version numbers (v0.0.1, v0.0.2, …) that increment on every publish and every Android build, which is also what lets the Play Store accept more than one upload of the same app.
- The Publish menu now holds your live site as a first-class tile (tap to open, one tap to copy the link) plus version-stamped, dated downloads, so a stale APK can't masquerade as your latest build. A green dot tells you when something new is waiting in there.
- A failed Android build now tells you why. The Publish menu carries a red row when an APK or Play bundle fails, and tapping it opens the tail of the actual build log, selectable, with a Copy button, so it can go straight into the chat or to support. Any earlier download stays available and clearly dated.
- A notification centre on the build screen: a bell with an unread count, and a panel listing what happened while you were in another tab, the assistant needing an answer, a turn finishing, a publish going live, an Android build failing.
- Next-step suggestions: after a planning conversation, the composer offers a few ideas for what to try next. Tap several to stack them into one message, or shuffle for a fresh set.
- Auto top-up: switch it on and pick a threshold, and your credits reload from your saved card before a long build runs out. Capped at three reloads a day, off by default.
- New plans: Standard at $20/mo and Pro at $200/mo, each with an annual option at about 17% off. Standard starts at $1 for your first 7 days.
- Release Android builds are now signed with your project's own persistent upload key, so every update you ship to the Play Store is accepted as the same app.
- The assistant can look at your app and click through it. Ask for a redesign and it takes a screenshot, taps into the screens behind your buttons and tells you what it actually sees, instead of working from the code alone and guessing.
- Your preview updates about a second after a change, instead of a minute and a half.
- The Publish button tells you when your live link is behind. Make changes after publishing and it turns amber, so you always know whether what you shared matches what you're looking at.
- Stage cards you can drive from the keyboard: arrow keys step through the agent's moments on desktop, the frame stays still while you click, and each card holds long enough to actually read.
Improvements
- Nothing is rebuilt when nothing changed, an app that hasn't been edited is no longer redeployed just because you asked to look at it.
- The assistant reads a whole file at once instead of in dozens of small pieces, so turns finish sooner and cost you less.
- Your credits go on your work, not on speculation: no exploratory tool calls or padded replies on a message that didn't ask for a change. Brainstorming stays fully engaged on purpose.
- Small changes are much faster. The assistant now makes simple edits, a colour, a label, a small widget tweak, itself, checks them and reloads your preview, instead of handing every request to the full developer crew.
- The assistant starts every request with a map of your project, so it spends far less of your credits re-reading files to find its way around.
- One Stop button instead of Pause and Stop, and it now commits on the first click and shows it is stopping. The microphone stays available while the agent works, so you can dictate a follow-up mid-run.
- Asking to rename a project, restore an earlier version or publish now points you at the button that does it, instead of spending credits sending a developer after something the UI already does.
- The chat never silently swallows a message: sending while the previous one is still on its way now tells you so and keeps your text. Plan-mode conversations also read in the right order again.
- Suggested next steps now propose features for your app rather than instructions for using GrowApps.
- Every icon-only button has a tooltip, and refreshing the preview is now clearly distinguished from restarting the engine behind it.
- Discount codes can be redeemed on credit top-ups at checkout.
Open Source & Remix, a faster funnel, and a steadier preview (v0.1.67)
June 22 - 28, 2026
New
- Open Source & Remix: publish an app to a public /t/<link> so anyone can view it and spin up their own editable copy in one click. You earn credits when your template is opened or remixed.
- New Explore wall on the landing page: a curated showcase of real open-sourced apps you can remix on the spot.
Improvements
- The builder no longer asks redundant yes/no questions before starting. A clear request is the build signal, so simple changes apply right away.
- The /try idea flow now kicks off your build in the background while you answer the follow-up questions, so the hand-off to your live app feels instant.
- Reworked the Android build button into a single always-reachable menu: build or rebuild an APK / .aab and download your last build any time.
Fixes
- Hot reload now reports success the moment your change is live, instead of up to a minute later.
- Fixed hot reload occasionally stalling and leaving the preview stale while a build was running without the preview open.
- The close (X) button on an Explore template card is now reliably clickable over the live app preview.
- Stopped spurious error banners appearing on fresh projects while the agent was still building.
See it for yourself.
Start building and watch the next release land in your app.
